    Wink Just can't wait!!!

After a lot of research on LA machines. I'm finally getting one. the H Q 18 in. Avante . I'm so excited. I feel like a little girl waiting for Christmas. I waited for 10 yrs. to get a LA. Now I just hope I can operate it as good at home as I did at the LQS. I don't sell my quilts or take orders. I do this as a hobby and to give as gifts. My daughter is getting married in November so I'm planning to make a memory quilt with her pics. (bridal, wedding, and reception) for her and her grandparents.(my Husbands parents she's the oldest grandchild)My husband was killed in and auto accident 6 yrs.ago so I'm going to incorporate some pics of him to. I know it's going to be emotional but I know the Lord will help me with it. Any suggestions on patterns would be greatly appreciated. But not the wedding ring looks to complicated. don't do well with curves LOL.
    God Bless
    Loretta

I have been looking for patterns for a memory quilt also and what I have read about memory quilts is to choose a pattern that enhances the photos and isn't too busy that it distracts the eye from the photos. I'm thinking of using a star pattern with a solid square in the middle or a pattern alternating with blank squares (for photos) as the connecting blocks. Good luck. Your project is a wonderful one and will bring your family much joy. Yolanda Wood River

I know what you mean. I am waiting now for the special financing on the Baby Lock Crown Jewel to start on the 25th so I can place my order. Took a certification class to rent time on one at a different dealer just to be sure it was everything I expected. I'm sure you will love yours!!!

Doing the happy dance for you. You will LOVE your Avante and you will have so much fun with it!

Regarding the memory quilt. A friend of mine, who is totally into ancestry.com just did one with really old family photos (like19th century pictures)and she just did different size photo blocks and "framed" them (put sashing around each one) in a brown fabric so it looked like wood picture frames. She then set them in solid beige background fabric. It looked fabulous. Simple but all the emphasis was on those photo blocks. She said she was trying to replicate framed photos hanging on a wall and she totally nailed it. She was planning on doing just SITD around the frames and then tying or crows footing the rest of the quilt so as to keep all emphasis on the pictures. I think it will look wonderful when she is done. Simple and sophisticated.
