I do a lot of small applique pieces, so I do buy charms, especially batiks and balis. Can't afford the yardage for such small pieces.

While there are fabrics I don't like in the precuts, there are also plenty of fabrics in my stash I have no idea what I ever bought them for. Swaps, I guess

I've never bought one, just to pricey for me. If I had one don't think I could stand to use it because of how much I know it had cost. LOL

I bought my first layer cake a couple of weeks ago. Still haven't opened it. Someday....

Here's a really novel concept: there is no law that says you have to use the fabrics all together in one project. There is no law that says you can't mix and match with things from your stash. You can even get wild and crazy and mix and match between two fabric lines. You can banish the ugly ones to the scrap bin. It's fabric, just like all the rest of your stash, except packaged all cute.

I'm going to refuse to open another thread on pre-cuts until people think of new things to say about them. It's like Groundhog Day (the movie) around here.

I guess I am a control freak. Anything that takes the process out of my hands makes me uncomfortable. Also not having 'free-rein' with my own fabric choices bothers me.

Am I the only one who feels this way?
I am glad to see the differing options on this subject. I prefer to buy yardage and any leftover will prob go into the scrap stash to be recycled in another quilt. :)

I am also picky about buying fabric. I have to feel it, see how the colors work with one another. I have never bought fabric on line for this reason except for Kona black and panels.

I love charm packs since they provide an entire fabric line in a relatively inexpensive package. But, I am okay cutting my own strips.

I find it quite easy to cut my own projects! J
