    Default Long arm machine

Does anyone know anything about the Encore 18x8 Inch Long Arm Quilting Machine? Any information would be appreciated.

    Thanks

A quick check online - looks like SMP is selling it. Either a rebranded Tin Lizzie (or whatever the company is these days since the original Tin Lizzie is out of business) or an import clone. Definitely a grey-market machine. You will likely be hard-pressed to find dealer service/troubleshooting for it.

Is this what you mean by SMP?

tiny print here does say that it is refurbished, so what you say about rebranding makes sense to me.

It's not a mainstream brand machine, and dealer support, especially for troubleshooting, parts, service, and training is likely to be minimal.

Yes.but...LOL. It is such a basic machine that you wouldn't need fancy parts if one did go...also Tin Lizzie is still in business and has parts. The Pfaff and Viking 18-8's are interchangeable for parts. The only part that is specific is the computer/stitch regulator, and that can be more than the machine on a lot of brands.
I have had my Tin Lizzie for over 20 years..only part I had to replace was a presser bar spring a few years ago. Most recently I replaced the wheels on my carriage, but they were 20 + years old, nothing lasts forever. I am a stickler about oiling and cleaning, that will go a long way in ensuring any machine lasts decades.

I e-mailed floyd and lizzie's when I needed new wheels..even though he didn't stock them, he was very fast to answer my questions and help me.

It's still the same machine...there are a ton of different brands, but under the hood, they are all Tin Lizzies.
