On another thread, someone posted that she feels that the Moda Marbles are too thin.

They are thinner than the rest of Moda's line.

It's a question that deserves its own thread, so...

What do you think? Do you agree that they're too thin? Or do you still like them anyway?

I do feel the moda marbles are somewhat thin so I tend to use them only for smaller pieces or maybe a sashing or something like that. They are great blenders though so can't leave them out of my stash!!

I like them. Never had a problem. Made a quilt for my daughter, we wash and dry it all the time. Not a "stitch" of trouble.

Very interesting topic. I have wanted to try the Moda marbles. they are so pretty. I think now I will just buy some FQ to see what I think of them. Thanks.

I love Moda Marbles, I buy them by the bolt! I also use a lot of Moda Bella solids... in fact I use more of both of those than anything else.

They are thinner but ... several of the top fabric companies are using thinner fabrics for a few of their collections. It has not stopped me from purchasing. When a manufacture does this it is a disapointment, but its not a deal breaker. The Moda marbles are such a good line. I never think twice about how much to order ( Marbles ) since the leftovers will find a place in many projects with both traditional and batik fabric.

teehee, that was me. I no longer buy them, though I still have some of the older, thicker line on hand that I use. There are just too many other options, imo, that coordinate better with the weights of the rest of the fabrics in a piece. I simply don't like the hand of Moda Marbles these days and I suspect they thinned it down to keep the price low and/or when Patrick Lose left Moda?

Is Kaufman's Marbleous line any heavier than the Moda?

We don't have any of the Marbelous line, but we did just get seven colors of Robert Kaufman "Fizz" (by Patrick Lose) and those are thicker than the Moda Marbles.

Have never used any one of these yet, but Missouri Quilt has the white Moda bella for the daily deal and was thinking about ordering. How is the weight on the solids?

    Thanks

Fizz is an awesome line!! I'll be checking out what you have, for sure. Kaufman lists its weight as 4.3 oz/sq yd and the Marbleous at only 3.5 oz/sq yd so I guess I'll keep looking for marbles. Thanks for the quick reply. ;)
