Now...I need a pressing pad to put on top. He cut me a piece of 1/4" plywood and I've seen posts about using a stapler to attach batting and a cover. Do you think velcro would hold the fabric cover tight enough? Would make it much easier to change. Has anyone done that?

That is an awesome table CONGRATULATIONS!!a

Great table! I have made three ironing pads. Bought wood, had cut to size at hardware store, covered with batting and the silicon fabric and stapled to wood. Is great for retreats and sewing classes. I also have taken a TV tray table, covered the top with batting and silicon fabric and, because I could not find my heavy duty stapler, used some large thumb tacks hammered in place to hold the fabric. The table with mini iron (Avon special) sits next to my sewing chair. Love it!

Wonderful table! I have often wished for something similar so I wouldn't have to use the floor for basting.

This is exactly what I am looking for. I am forwarding this picture to a carpenter friend of mine asking for an estimate. Your pictures are good and I think he can use them to build what I need. Thank you so much for responding. N
