I'm a newbie so now that I have my simple quilts made for my grandkid's Christmas, I want to try something a little more difficult. It will be nice to have some time just to play!

My Guild's quilt show is May 2010 and I want to spend most of my quilting time on quilts for the show. I have the blocks for one all done, just have to decide on arrangement and another quilt mostly in my mind. I'm co-chair of my Guild's Project Pillowcases for kids in hospitals, so I'll be at the monthly sew ins at our guild and the one schedule in January at LQS. I hope to begin making tons of scrappy log cabin blocks that will become extra quilts for us and family members.

I belong to the Heartstrings online group, so some string blocks and/or a quilt will be made and at least one top for To The Top Project (quilts for Vets). Extended familiy is growing by leaps and bounds so quilts as needed for new grandneices and nephews, and who knows, we have a granddaughter getting married this year so there might a great grandchild of my own soon. Oh I can't wait for all the quilt shows, how much fun is that! Also, I plan to stop in a garage sale or two a week, to see what they have, my neighbor is always coming home with beautiful fabric from estate sales and such, what a bargain! If I wasn't working ft I would just follow after her I think.

Okay...since there are so many GC (will be 10 in 2010), I've decided to make aprons, personalize them all, collect cookie cutters from all our travels, get children cookbooks, Make hot dish carriers, and make picnic baskets so they can cook cookies as families; make sandwiches/mac & cheese, etc. together, then go out and have a picnic. If there's one thing we all need to learn from the economy of 2009--MORE FAMILY TIME; cheap, fun, and makes wonderful memories :)
My 2 cents (all I seem to have left after the holidays---LMBO).
    Happy New Year to all.

That's a given for me as well, I'm always on the lookout for fabrics, clothing, whatever to make wounded warrior and veteran home quilts. It's just a part of my day, I have 5 quilts I must must must stop procrastinating on, gifts for family members that have wanted them for awhile. sighhhhhhhh
I forgot to mention the VA quilts and charity quilts--they are made b/c they make me smile. I value my fellow military men and women. it's a way to still serve; after I retired :).

I plan to get to that point of making quilts for charity, I am still green at this, but I will get there. I did donate 2 baby quilts to a hospital just recently, they weren't the prettiest, but I heard no complains at all!
