I agree with Candace...check out new prices and don't accept the first price they give you. If they are like most dealers today - they need the sale more than you need that machine.

Here is good place to read about your machine choices...look on the left under sewing machine reviews. http://sewing.patternreview.com/ then look for the ones you want to know about.

I'm saving my pennies for a Janome 6600P as I write this. Test drove the Horizon and the 6600P and decided I actually liked the 6600P better!

I got my Janome 6600 2 years ago, new, with extra accufeed feet, for $1300. They should be cheaper now. I did NOT get the table, as I have a built-in. I love my Janome!!!!

I bought my 5 year old Janome 6600P with plexyglass table from a dealer of Janomes. He took it in as a trade in from a cutomer who upgraded to a larger quilting machine. The dealer, who also repairs sewing machines, serviced it completely before the sale so it was in perfect condition. I love the Janome and I only paid $800.00. I think $1,100 if too much money for a machine you know nothing about. I think you should look up a dealer before jumping on to the Craig List offer.

One of the questions I would asking is; do both of the machines do the things I want them to do for me? If they both meet that requirement, I would go with the Janome; not saying one is better than the other, I have one Pfaff I bought in 1987, have had to have the gears replaced because I flat wore them out; but still runs great and use it almost daily, have another Pfaff I bought in 2005 that I have never had a problem with; but in 2008 bought a Janome 10001 Memory Craft for all my embroidering and applique work and love it; it also does regular sewing great; but mainly use it for the other 2 apps. The newer Pfaff's are not as GREAT as the older ones, that is why I would go with the Janome. The used one is too much. Good luck.

BeckyB: SewVac direct has a Janome 6500P for $1500. Not sure if this is a similar model but it comes with a 5yr warranty.
