i've been making lots of pot holders, coasters, shelf scarfs, mantle scarfs, and Christmas tree ornaments, and i use i layer of insul brite in pot holders, but there's 6 layers of fabrics in one pot holder also. some square and some round, all out of Christmas fabric scraps. already got a bunch of them packaged and mailed, one more quilt to go and i'll be finished. here's some pics

According to the Insul~bright website, we are supposed to be using one layer of a cotton batting (like warm & natural) with a layer of Insul~bright. See here:

*At least one layer of cotton batting is recommended with Insul~Bright when used as Oven Mitts or Pot Holders. Insul~Bright is heat-RESISTANT, NOT heat-proof.
It also says to NOT for use in a microwave.

I decided to give this a try, and send some pictures of a few things I have made. I am not an experienced quilter by any means, but do enjoy trying. It is fun and enjoyable. So attached are a few of my pot holders, a couple table runners, and a picture of my crazy quilt. I am new at this, so see I can only send three pictures. If this works for me, I will send a couple more pictures later.... Marcine

The pot holders I make only require one layer of insul-brite, but the cotton fabric on one side ends up being 4 layers thick because of the way it is folded.
The pattern I used was shared on this board a couple of years ago. I made a lot of potholders 2 years ago as Christmas gifts.
