    Default Pressing vertical seams

I am almost finished attaching my blocks in horizontal rows but I am concern with what directions do you press your seams on a Falling Charm quilt?

I press mine all in the same direction for ease.

It looks like you would want to press all the seams in a row the same direction then press the, next row the other way so they nest nicely.
    Pretty quilt!

I do it like QuiltingVagabond. Each row is pressed all in the same direction, then the next row is exactly opposite, so that the seams nest. In other words, Rows 1,3,5 and 7 are all pressed to the right, and Rows 2,4,6,8 are all pressed to the left. Then as the rows are sewn together everything fits. Even though you have a light background, with a white batting your seam allowances won't show much if at all.

I nest my seam allowances whenever possible. I also tend to press the seam allowance in the direction it wants to go and that's not always yo the dark side. If it looks like I have to press to the light side, I make sure the dark fabric is graded down a smidge so it doesn't show passed the light.

the other day I was doing a precut block from a JAF BOM....anyway, I am a side presser, but decided to try open seams, just to see if there was any difference.....well, took longer to press because I had to open those seams and be careful not to burn fingertips---- have a little clover mini, but didn't have it handy......then I'm noticing as I'm opening, ironing, sewing those seams together the last stitch on the seam is loosening or undoing.....yes used the thread cutter on machine. So as I'm assembling pieces, I'm thinking...maybe this is why some have unravelling seams when they've completed quilts and washed them...some seams may have been compromised .......just a thought. And I will go back to my way of pressing to the side.

All one direction in a row. Next opposite. I number all my rows and sometimes all the blocks with washable markers.
I press the rows either all up or all down.
I haven't made a falling charm quilt yet.
