Default Question about a quilt shop program?

I was reading on another quilt site "local quilt shop is not doing a BOM next year, instead they are doing a TOM"

I have not an idea what that would be....anyone heard of that before?

Just wondering... Sure hate to be left out of something fun.

Not sure, but I think it is "Technique of the Month".

A nearby LQS has a new twist on the Block of the Month idea...it is called Top of the Month. Many people I know have been doing it and they are excited about it. Here are the rules:

The first month, pay $49.99 for a pattern card and fabrics. The patterns range from baby to throw size, and the construction is very simple, usually 3 or 4 fabrics. You pick your own fabrics from the entire store. (Does not include backing and binding.)

If you bring in your completed top on the designated day of the next month, you get a new pattern and fabric for $44.99. The cost continues to diminish by $5 each month until you reach $0, when you get a FREE pattern and fabric.

The program started last January, but one can enroll at any time of the year."

Judy I would call the store and ask them to explain it! Sounds like it could have different meanings. jmho

Though that's pretty low cost for fabric and pattern for a whole quilt top each month.

And because of the low cost, I'd be somewhat skeptical as to whether the quilts would be all that nice or not. Would be a great, low cost way of getting a bunch of quilts done. (of course, add on the price of batting, backing, binding)

Well I think it could be a good deal in the right circumstances. If you do it 11 months it adds up to $275 for 11 quilt tops which is $25 for each. I think it would be good if you were wanting to make a lot of lap or baby quilts and didn't mind simple patterns. Of course you realise the savings by doing a top a month. I would consider it if a store near me offered it.

Interesting. It would be fun to stay home and "shop my stash" though.
