Iam making a Grandmothers Flower Garden all by hand...now many people have told me this pattern should not be machine quilted because of the seams being so close the quilt tends to bubble or turn on itself(fold over)or the needle will get stuck and make holes in the quilt. Should I hand quilt it instead of having it machine quilted?
    Would like your imput...Thanks

I don't know the answer to your question, but the one I have is over 70 years old and was tied with some kind of thick thread.

I've machine quilted a simple flower motif, making sure the petals overlap the neighboring flower. It helps hold the (fragile) hand-pieced hexagons.

The one I did, I tied the 6 corners of the middle flower and it looked like stamens for the flower...hope this helps.<BTW, I am still trying to learn "quilting" stitches, so necessity was the mother of invention.

I have quilted several for a customer of mine. She is making one for each of her 15 grandchildren. I do 1/4" inside each hexagon.

I would machine quilt it, only because I own a long arm. But with this pattern, light quilting is the best.
