    Default Quilt Kits

I am thinking of ordering a quilt kit. Have you ordered one?

Any tips for me before I order?

I have ordered quilt kits from Connecting Threads and they have always been great. They are very generous with the fabric they give you so I always have leftovers. I have bought one kit from Keepsake Quilting (a long time ago) and it was fine too. Good luck!

Always check your kit when you get it to make sure everything is there. Other than that, there are some great deals on quilt kits if you look.

Stitchin' Heaven has a lot of good quilt kits and also has a lot of good BOMs. I've been looking at the Fons & Porter quilt kits that are 50% off right now.

I have ordered from Keepsake, and kits from LQS, as we'll at shows....I like kits because the fabric selection has been decided. I tend to get overwhelmed in selecting fabrics a d loose my focus.

Some kits are not of good quality. I suggest that you make the kit as soon as you get it. That way if you need more fabric, it will be easier to locate some.

I have bought two from Connecting threads and another few from Keepsake. The Connecting threads kits had ample fabric in them and the Keepsake kits were decent as well. One Keepsake kit was all FQ Christmas woven plaids and were cut off the straight of the goods. This was my first kit, and I was not aware that Keepsake was great to deal with so I struggled with making the FQs work. My only concern with kits is that there is no room for major mistakes. Been lucky so far.

FatQuarterShop.com has some cute kits. I've never ordered a kit from them before, but I've made a couple of their free patterns and have had great luck with them.

I have not bought any, partly because I like to change things about a quilt pattern. I had one given to me. I don't know where it was purchased, but the fabric is not the greatest quality. I have heard good things about Connecting Threads kits, though and I have been happy with the fabric I've purchased from them.
