Do make triangles w/ paper piecing. That's the only way I've tackled them and they come out perfect. I always have nice sharp points.
Now needle turn applique - that's my fear.

My fear now is of making huge quilts. I find them just too much to handle. Now that I'm finally FMQing my work, I couldn't even do a lapsize. I did one block & hated it so much I took out every little stitch. I haven't touched that beaut. top again. I will someday but ...................?

I do not have a problem with triangles, but for those that do, check out this software. I bought it and if you need a lot of triangles of the same fabric, this works really well. Check it out here:

I like paper piecing, but I know what you mean about which way round everything goes. I have poor spatial skills, so I've never fixed it in my mind, and every time I do some paper piecing I have to go back to some basic instructions. This one

Mine is checked fabric and plaids... trying to cut and keep all of the lines straight while piecing them :D:D:D

re: paper piecing...I had that same backward sewing thing. Then I bought Carol Doak dvd...it is now still backward sewing, but her video made it easier to understand. When I do something with it, I kind of first have to sit back and clear my head of regular sewing, then begin........just my way

watched the video.....if the software is reasonably priced, I may look into it...good to have in the arsenal of gadgets.....I like to use triangles on a roll for doing large amounts of triangles, this software might take the place of rolls of different sizes of t-o-r or having to trip to lqs for what size I might need

Applique and I don't get along. Then there's paper piecing. I've done it a couple of times, turned out okay, but have also taken classes on it which really warped my thinking on paper piecing. I've done needle turn applique too, but may never do it again.
