My son made a similar comment about a BOM of mine I was showing him.!!!!! That's why I've left strict instructions that NONE of my quilts are left to him---- only my quilty daughter.

I have had this conversation too many times. People just don't get what the difference is between those "hand made" and ours.

Just another guy who places no value on the amount of time a female has to work on something. Ask him what he would charge to do similar work on a car? Maybe he'll get a clue.

I pointed it out to my uncle once when I gave him a quilt in exchange for some car work. Clearly, he didn't consider it equivalent. After I told him how much the materials were and the number of hours spent just to TIE the quilt, he got it. I love my uncle, but it is so common for men to devalue the work that women do.

I don't think it's because they don't value work we women do - it's because they have no clue as to costs.

I would have to agree that they have no clue as to costs but also no clue as to how lmuch time a taks takes to complete. Many times it is the condescending tone of voioce that indicates that we do nothing at home....at least around here and I work circles around many people..
