Hello Quilting Board Members,
Let's see if this posts. I don't think my last one did.

My nephew would like a queen size T-shirt quilt to showcase his lacrosse shirts. But, he would like them inserted into his lacrosse number (81). These numbers need to be large enough to cover the top portion of a queen sized bed. Question 1- Any suggestions how to make the numbers that large accurately?

I would appreciate any and all suggestions.

I think the top of a QS bed is 60x60, so I would probably cut up an old sheet (or join up newsprint paper) to that size, and sketch out the numbers on that. I would make the '8' 26x52 and the '1' also 52". For the '8' cut a 13" square of paper, and draw an arc, 4 of these will make a circle - you could make a smaller one for the top section. For the '1' cut a strip 12" wide by 52"

Does he realize how heavy the quilt will be?? Have you thought of having his number in the center of the quilt?? I cam across this alphabet stencils:

I would make it block #'s so you don't have to worry about curves. Use 'flippy/snowball' corners, to make the 8 and the top of the one. Use a team color for the background and if you have more shirts, randomly place them on the unused space.

Thank you everyone for all of your suggestions! You've given me a lot of ideas to think over and try small samples before attempting the real quilt...I'm hesitant, but need to get going and try some techniques. I'll post along the way. Thanks again, Kim B
