Okay a little clarification here with photos.

This is a VS machine and a Model 128

    NOT a 66 or 99.

I bought one just like it and it is NOT a featherweight. It was a regular sized machine, heavy as anything! The price should also be a starting clue. Featherweights will be around $300, depending on the condition. It's worth getting the right thing.

In my featherweight, the front folds down so it can fit into a small black carrying case. It was my great aunt Nell's machine that she bought in 1934.

No, it isn't but I've got one like this and if it runs and you like old machines it's well worth $60

I also don't think it is a FW but what a lovely machine it is. And it looks like it was really well loved.

This looks like my first sewing machine a Sparten, an english predicessor of the Singer Frather Weight and made for the British market by...SINGER! I have kept mine all these years and continue to use it often. It is a wonderful machine, easy to use, clean and repair. I bought my used in collage and got a manual from Singer in the 60's. ENJOY!

No, it isn't a Featherweight. My sister got one of these from her mother-in-law a number of years ago. It is much heavier than a Featherweight and to me that is a big disadvantage.

    Sorry...

No, I have 3 of those , they are just called dome tops, some have a shuttle bobbin and some have the other round bobbin, 2 of mine have the shuttle bobbin, they are the early ones, they were made long before the featherweights, Featherweights were made in a much smaller box and part of it folds up, origally made for the girls to take to college to be able to sew their own clothes, several of my friends got these as College gifts on their way out the family door to a college dorm :-D

The Singer Sewing Machine catalog from 1910 list the case as a "Bentwood Case". I have the price sheet here somewhere that tells me the price of what it would cost the Dealer to get it into the store. I will go and look around to see if I can find it.
