Default Is the Singer s18 exactly the same as Janome 6500?

I have a friend looking to buy a nicer machine and is interested in finding out if the Singer s18 exactly the same as Janome 6500?

    Does anyone own one?

    How do they like it?

What is a good place to buy it from?

Thank you for all your help.

Wow! They sure look the same. I don't know the answer. But I do know Singer's reputation is pretty poor. We've gotten Singers in the shop with the timing off, right out of the box. Maybe the Janome factory's tolerance level is better than Singer's?

Oh i gave away my Singer creative touch 1036 I think it was called. last year and it had been a great machine. I got it in 1980.
I will take a peek at these, interesting they look alike.

According to this website, this Singer is manufactured by Janome and is essentially the same as their Janome 6500:

I wish there was a list of which machines are made by Janome, I'm a big fan. I know they now make the Elna's & Necchi & I have a Janome made of each, plus a Janome Jem Platinum. The Necchi Travel Mate is the same as the Janome Jem Gold, a fanastic travel machine. I think the Elna is the same as the Janome 8900.

The Singer s18 can also be found at walmart.com at a better price than Amazon and with free 2 day shipping.
