Default Thread keeps coming out of bobbin...

Not sure what is going on but the bobbin thread keeps coming out of the little do hickey thing on the bobbin and then makes a huge mess on the underside. It will sew fine...and then so what randomly it does this. The bobbin I in the case right and the tension seems good. Any ideas!!!!

An unevenly-wound bobbin might cause this problem. Try a different wound bobbin to see if that makes a difference.

I agree! also make sure your thread is threaded correctly this will cause the bobbin stitch not to be right. Make sure you thread the upper thread with the presser foot up so the presser disk are open and the thread will seat itself correctly.

Also, I'm guessing that the "do hickey thing" you are referring to is the tension spring. Take a VERY fine pin or needle and make sure there isn't a little bit of lint stuck in there. Also, make sure that it really is the bobbin thread. Often a mess on the back of the fabric means the top thread has an issue.

Also check the bobbing case really well for small pieces of thread that might be jammed in there or also in the feed dog area.

When mine doe this I have the bobbin in the bobbin case unwinding the wrong way. Try turning the bobbin around and see if that helps. Also the bobbin may not have enough tension against it if using a pre wound bobbin. That happens to me too if I take the cardboard end off the pre wounds. I leave it on and no problem.

This. I would say 9 times out of 10...if there is a mess or "nest" on the back of the quilt it's lint somewhere. Especially if you piece with cotton...cotton is a pain in the toot when it comes to lint.
