My time

This is terrible. Could you imagine if you had left the house with the iron plugged in. It would have burned your whole house down. I try to always unplug my iron after I use it but sometimes......... Sorry to hear about your hand. Burns Can be so painful. Let us know what transpires from all this okay.

Oh my goodness!!! that is terrible..I hope your hand is ok... may be you could put a fancy patch on it or like the others said post your backing fabric and maybe someone may have some to share....

I don't have a travel version, but I think if I did, I'd put it away to see if there will be a recall. I'd be afraid to use it, even though the one you have is a replacement after the other one failed, and surely Rowenta wouldn't send out another risky one, would they? Hard to say.

I searched for "Rowenta Recall" and found other appliances mentioned but not an iron. They make a lot of irons. It may be the most popular brand of the moment. I have one regular size, but the steam function doesn't work any more. In fact, I have two irons with the same problem, but I don't need steam. I like my Rowenta because it heats up to "cotton" temp very, very fast.

Only a quilters main concern is the damaged fabric. Is you hand ok?

Did you have any aloe in the house, it is fantastic for burns. It use to be only in plant form but now you can buy it in a bottle, I keep it in the refrigerator so it is nice and cooling. My 10 yr old grandson burnt his finger on the filling from a pop tart and this kept it from blistering. We put it on his finger after we used ice for a while. Keep us posted on you hand and what Rowenta does about this disaster.

Wow, can't even imagine how that could happen. So sorry that you got burned and also your backing. Probably the only good thing is the fact that it wasn't the quilt. Let us know what the company says. Hope your hand is ok.
