All I can say about those signs is thank goodness today is voting day, and I hope you all did vote!! And I am so happy its almost over. I am tired of the phone calls, the negative ads on TV and everything else that comes along with voting.

I mentioned using them several months ago. I always stop and pick them up after the event is over and take them home, soak them in a bit of bleach in my sink then cut them down with a sharp utility knife. Just be sure to give them enough time to thoroughly dry out. FREE is the best price. I have not ever had any trouble with inks coming off on my fabrics, and as far as having 'politics' mixed with my fabrics, you can't see it because it's covered by my gorgeous stash! With very little effort and NO MONEY, you can have lots of boards for your fabric stash. I say GO FOR IT!!

The thought of any of those faces staring at me scares me!!! hahahahaha You can get empty cardboard bolts from JoAnns fabrics. They are already the width you need, you just have to cut them to length. Look for the ones that are all cardboard, not with the empty air space in the middle of the cardboards. The staff is delighted to give them away, as it saves them a trip to the dumpster. Using your rotary blades that are just too dull for fabrics are a great way to cut them up!

I haven't wrapped fabric on them but they do make great bottoms for purses. The guy who put on our new roof had some misprinted signs that he gave me that I have been using. If you are afraid of the paint rubbing off over time cover them with some cheap muslin or some ugly fabric you have. I never thought of using them to wrap fabric. I will have to go dumpster diving tomorrow.

In our state the voting signs have to come down within a certain period of time. Whoever put up the signs would probably be grateful if you picked up one. They wouldn't have to stop on the side of the road, walk thru the weeds and nettles to get it and then there is the problem of too many in their dumpster. One man's trash is another man's treasure. Have I used one? No. Am considering buying a 6" wide ruler but the Wilton cake board sounds good. After voting am going to Michaels or AC Moore to look at the cake boards.

I just fold around my 6 X 24" ruler and slide it out.

Oh, me neither!!! I would not trust my precious stash to cardboard that most likely is not acid or lignin-free, not to mention the road dust and chemicals in the ink that could leech or bleed. The cheapest method is ruler-folding. I've done this with my stash and it works great and costs nothing. One tip I'd like to offer: measure before folding, write the measurement down, then staple to front of bundle when folded. I cut index cards in half for this. They are sturdier than paper and if you used some of the fabric, just cross off the amount and write down a new number.

I fold my fabrics, usually large pieces over my ruler and I can tell about how much I have by how big the stack is. I have much large pieces and lots of stacks.
