Our DD and husband moved to Florida where the highest elevation is under 500 ft, for the whole state! We live in California at a moderate elevation of 3100' in Sierra Nevada's, on the way to Yosemite Ntl Park. Today is a moderate weather pattern, overcast with possible rain and 46 degrees. I'll stay inside because it's too cold. Cold is relative.

Not sure I will get sewing time this weekend or not. For the past 2 weeks, we have been helping our son remodel his kitchen. New flooring, (had to remove tile floor and a layer of underlayment first), built a new wall (drywall mud is my job), painting the cabinets, new lights... etc. It is starting to come together, but there is still a lot of work to do. The new countertops should come next week so that means new sinks, plumbing and all that goes with that.

Thanks for hosting, Heather! I've been working on the Debbie Brown Feb. quilt. Got the borders put on today and found a backing in stash. Just need to sandwich it and figure out how I want to quilt it. I've also got a UFO to work on and an improvisational crumb quilt that is a WIP. We were due to get about 4 to 6 inches of snow overnight, instead we got 3 or so and now they're saying we are likely to get freezing rain with ice accumulations around 1/4" tomorrow- keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't bring down tree limbs and power lines. If we lose power, I'll concentrate on the UFO since it requires some coloring with Inktense pencils.

quiltingshorttimer--which Judy Niemeyer pattern are you making? I enjoy her patterns.

cjsews--hope the VQW motivates you. Sometimes it's hard to find my quilting mojo. I just sit in my sewing room and look at my fabric, patterns, kits. Often that will get me moving but sometimes it just depresses me when I see all I have to do!

Julienm1--origami face masks sound quite interesting

MicheleC--double slice layer cake is my go-to pattern. I always have layer cakes here.

jmoore--congrats on getting your February BOM completed.

Well, the bobbin case arrived for my machine today and I put it right in and started quilting. I finished my February ufo challenge which was nice. I tried the two color flange binding for the first time on it. Didn't turn out too bad. The final clue was released yesterday for Compass Star mystery quilt so I started assembling the top. I have it about 1/3 done and should be able to complete it tomorrow.. Then my plan is to prep three wool applique projects.

    Whoop! Whoop!
Finished piecing the pizza quilt. Found a container of "what in the world" fabric chunks and hunks so will start to piece somewhat coordinating fab for backing(s). Maybe I'll be able to piece enough backings for at least 3 lap quilts. (Boy I sure sound ambitious after a glass of wine!)

I totally forgot VQW was this weekend. So glad I checked the forum tonight. Thank you Raggiemom for hosting. 👍Reading through this thread, wow lots of work will get done.😎 I have been working on stencilling pillows, finished up on 12 today and started four more, but ran out of fabric paint. So gotta get some coming in the mail.
I did get these completed, they are an order I will deliver them next week.

So nice to see and hear about everyone's project tonight..... baby quilt and label is complete.... and did some more machine quilting on my Sew Incred. Crazy project...but when I checked the back....ugh...the tension was off....so rip-it rip-it happened...... now I have my Granddoggy visiting for a few days...she keeps me on my toes.... not sure what I will accomplish if any tomorrow.....we have a very cold snap with frigid winds so my walks are not so enjoyable!

Hi All! And thank you for hosting Heather

I will get a chunk of Saturday to do some sewing, not sure about Sunday - we'll see how it goes!

    My projects are:
    • Find a backing and figure out how much batting/wadding I need for my Penguins quilt (and can I Frankenbatt it, or do I need to invest in new) - I don't plan on actually starting the quilting yet, but want to corral my supplies
    • Mark up (and start?) decorative quilting on my Pumpkins wallhanging (I've finished the practical 'keep it from moving around' stitch in the ditch part, yay!)
    • Finally (maybe) get around to de-papering my Stars Sampler - it's just sitting around, staring at me. I don't feel I can call it a finished flimsy until the last finicky 'tidying' is done.

I'm also contemplating my next project (always dangerous) which I plan to be a Puffin quilt. I bought the pattern when on holiday in Bar Harbor in 2013. The shop was called Fabricate and was painted a deep purple. The people were lovely, and I really hope the shop is still going. Such good memories to revisit while making this one (the holiday was excellent too, not just the quilt shop, lol).

I see some excellent work is being done already. I am particularly impressed with midwife's cat quilt (also the speed with which it went together!!)

Ha! I decided to check the Internet to see if Fabricate is still going, and I'm happy to report it is!

I am also very tickled by the Tour the Shop photos - in the second photo you can see the Puffin quilt I plan on making (albeit with a slightly different colourway - I'll swap out the yellow for a blue/purple I think. Am keeping the puffins puffin-coloured ). Link here if interested FabricateŽ | Tour the shop! | Bar Harbor, ME (mdifabricate.com)

Need to go and actually *do* now, rather than puttering on the computer

    Happy sewing!
