I used most of the feed sacks I'd been saving for backing on the vintage quilts I quilted for DH's cousin. She found 2 suitcases full of feed sack material and gave them to me. Some are full sacks. Some are pieces cut down to smaller sizes. I assume the person saving these was going to use them for the white pieces in her quilts. These were packed into those suitcases at least 50 years ago.

But, now that I've gotten them, washed them and folded them, do you have any ideas for me? Other than backings for old quilt tops, what would you do with them?

I used mine for doing embroidery on I made a hanger for my embroidery stabalizers

I use mine like any cotton fabric: quilt pieces, pillows, curtains, etc. I love feedsacks!

I only have 2 left and I am not sure what I will do with them. Right now they are in a Cedar Chest staying safe. I don't want to cut into them until I have the 'right' project in mind.

Using mine in a Disappearing Nine Patch pattern. My goal is to make 3 quilts for family members so that the history of feedsacks is passed on to future generations. I have been collecting bits and pieces for quite some time so this has been a long term project! Retirement is on the radar so will have more time to devote to this labor of love soon 😊

My MIL told me she used to have bloomers made from feed sacks as a child.

Pillow cases and valences for the ones that I don’t want to cut-which is most of them! However, my grandmother also had beautiful dresser scarves, table runners, and quilts made out of them! You have quite a treasure, there. Those are quite pricey, these days!
