to hold your spools ofthread while sitting in your comfy chair doing hand work/applique? I'm currently doing some hand piecing and am looking for something to hold the different spools of thread so they are not falling between the cushions, rolling on the floor etc.

    Thanks,

I keep my project in a plastic box. Whatever I need is in there and when I stop working on it for the night the project goes in there, too. I pick up the "show offs" boxes @Joanns when on sale. Easy to take along with me, too.

I use a pencil case with a lid that snaps shut.

Ziplock bags. I always have them around, and you can see what's inside. Inexpensive, too.

I know this sounds crazy, but I use my husband's empty prescription bottles. I punch a hole in the lid and drop the spool into the bottle. I feed the strand of thread through the hole and snap on the lid. I use a bit of scotch tape on the end of the thread to keep it from slipping down into the hole when I'm not using it. I put all of the bottles I'm using in a basket to keep them corraled.
