I have a sewing chest like this one. I refinished it. It is a great compliment next to my pre-civil war (1850's) bed. Both inherited from relatives.

I have no earthly idea what those tools are, but the sewing cabinet is nearly identical to the one my mom has that she inherited from her mother. The one that comes to ME someday! I hope you plan to restore it to its former glory. I had never seen another one like it until today!

my first thought was that they were shoe tree stretchers and then someone mentioned darning. maybe they are the forms used to put in a sock when you are darning socks? katy
