fOR A quilt I make a label and attach to the back of the quilt. Since I can't make my labels by embroidery, I use a permanent Ink pen, write info on. When that is done, turn edges under and Wonder Under it to back of quilt.

For identification on blocks, I cut out a cardboard piece and attach like a tag for a present.

What about for bargello quilts ... marking the columns? What works best for those, especially the tiny ones?

I used those extra address labels that I seem to get tons of. They won't take a lot of moving around, but work good. Just mark over your name with a dark magic marker.

Wonder if putting the sticky on the BACK side of the fabric would be okay? I have seen tape leave yucky residue that is impossible to get off.

I'm thinking writing with a dark lead pencil would be better than using ink - even though it's harder to see. Sometimes inks run or bleed.

This way and if there's a number of the same size, I use zip lock bags (sandwich and larger as necessary) and mark the bags.

Thanks for all the good ideas! I like marking mine with a Sharpie on the wrong side of the selvage, then turning that corner out so I can spot it easily.

Freezer paper. Cut the size you need, make your note or comment and press onto the fabric.

I do this too. I've also written in the selvage, but prefer the pin and paper. It's easier to find.

I use baggies and write on the baggie or I pin a piece of paper on the strips with the size on the paper.
