I think your work so far is drop-dead gorgeous, and you're right on track with your border ideas. Because the border will be the drop and not seen on the same plane as the design, you could add stars or not, or repeat the lotus blossom effect of your current outside border after adding strips of the colors you have stacked with the top, or just use strips. Definitely use the fairies on the corners, with the same sashing on the sides to fill out the space as in the squares you've already done with them. Any way you choose to do this will be beautiful, just more active or more sedate on the sides of the bed.

i think the fairy diamonds in the corners sounds perfect! i would put the light blue in the border where the dark blue (purple?) is to relieve some of the weight and then use the darkest color as the final border and the binding to anchor the quilt visually. it is gorgeous and so is el inspector gato! my 2 watch the placement of each and every thread!

Gorgeous. And you're asking me for an opinion. I could only suggest you modify the tulip block for the corner, omitting the green leaves. It's not usual but could you snip of the corners of the green border to fit in a modified block?
    It's SO pretty......

I agree with your quilt inspector - It is gorgeous, and will be great whatever you do for the borders.

Beautiful! I'm not an experienced quilter. I still have so much to learn, so I wouldn't presume to advise you on your borders. I love your quilt---and your kitty quilt inspector seems to approve. LOL

I love the quilt. It is very stunning. I especially love the cat, too. Don't they always want to sit where you most do not want them to?

Beautiful quilt sorry that I don't know how to help. Looks like you already have your answer with the way that you set out your fabrics on the last frame of the picture.
