Too funny! I have the fabrics picked out for it and ready to order. The son I want to make this for has a September birthday so I’m hoping to be able to do it before then.

Barb, thank you again. Can't believe how many of your patterns are in my "to do".

Check out Jenny Doan's MSQC Illusion Block. I'm making it right now, it's quite simple and has the look of floating triangles!

This pattern you can do your self. First decide what size you would like your square and how wide you want your strip then measure one side of the block add a strip to one side then press seam. The measure across the top of the block and across the square (that is how long your next strip will be. Continue on this way. Always adding your strips down the side then across the top. Leaving one side and the bottom without strips.

I am currently working on zig zag zoom, and reading grandmahoney's instructions made me realize they are made the same just using a bigger first square.

Yes! Thanks for posting the instructions. I am going to make a new quilt for my son and he has chosen the labyrinth quilt pattern, but I am going to show him this one too!

Why do you need a pattern? It looks like a 12" block, using 2" strips, starting with the red candy square, and ending with the gray frame... Sew it like you would a log cabin block... If you wanted to fancy it up, you could miter the corners of the prints, but since the gray frame is not mitered, it seems unlikely that the quilt in the picture has mitered strips.
