As a general rule, do you prefer your quilt block background colors to be, white? other neutral? or a color?.... and why?

OK, definitely NOT white! I've been trying to get stains out of a white one I've been working on, and it's driving me crazy!

It depends on the fabrics I'm working with. I do use a lot of brights, and use a lot of black and navy as backgrounds -- they give the brights a whole different look than if using a light/white BG.

As a rule, I only use "white on white" fabric IF I use white at all. Just don't care for the solid white... just my opinion

It depends on the fabrics I'm using. I rarely use solid background fabrics. I like some color in them.
