Hi Daisy Dew and Happylab.......just to add to the anticipation.....I've mailed your candies and they should arrive Thursday (10/29). I know it's early, but I think November is going to be pretty busy.....so want to get these to you. Have fun thinking of ways to use your candies! Nora

I've been slowly working with my candies, making blocks of 25. Most of the squares are from the swaps I've been in, most from last year's birthday swap. There aren't many duplicates. The pic shows a few completed blocks, and some pinned 5 block strips ready to be sewn into sets. When I get 25 blocks completed, I'll probably add black sashing although now I'm thinking about other options. Since I'm a long way from being finished, there's time to audition a few fabrics with the blocks and then decide. Just wanted you all to see your candies aren't going to waste!

BTW, I didn't plan on that checkerboard pattern but it quickly became apparent that I'm most comfortable pulling light, dark, light, dark etc. so that's what I'm going with.

So glad you are sewing Janice, it's great therapy. At least it was and is for me hope it works for you too.
Michelle prayers and hugs being sent your way, it's very hard mentally and physically. Be sure to take care of yourself too.
I've started working on another quilt too. Between the b-day candies and SheriR's swap...plus what I cut from left overs, I have to make them into something Set this one a little different, at least for me.

Janice and jaba, your blocks and quilt are looking great. Janice, I even spotted some of the fabrics I sent. Jaba, I like that layout. On my screen the white almost looks like flowers. I'm busy doing Christmas gifts. The countdown has started and if I don't stay on task I'll be burning the midnight oil the night before Christmas. ( which we are doing Thanksgiving weekend)

Janice, I've got a little stack of 16-patches that looks like your pile of 25 patches! And Jaba, love how you combined 16 patches with the stretched star blocks. It looks great.

I think mine are destined to be Arkansas Crossroads again. I just love that pattern. Our charity group has called for some scrappy quilts, and I will try to get mine done (at least in a lap size) for that.

I also want to try "Growing Up Odd" and "Film at Five". Aren't candies FUN?

The same lady designed them both.
