My most memorable Christmas was when I would get to spend
it with my favorite Aunt. She was my mom's younger sister, and
was more like a mother to me than an Aunt.

I don't have many pictures of me when I was young, but there is
one picture taken that has me, my brother, and 2 cousins (favorite
    Aunt's kids).

Below is the only photo from that era.

Of course I am the oldest of the 4 and the tallest.
Left to right is my cousin Ray (age 4), me (age 5), my brother Mel (age 3),
and my cousin Deb (age 3).

Aunt Velma ALWAYS went above and beyond to give us kids a good Christmas.

Today would have been her birthday, and we lost her 16 years ago today. Not
a day goes by that I don't think of her and wish she was here.

I just know that her and mom are on the other side of the rainbow causing
trouble with everyone, and more than anything poking fun at their youngest
sister who always thought she was "better" than anyone else in the family.
Yeah o guess it is obvious that the youngest Aunt was not a favorite with any
    of us in the family.

When I was young and a divorced Mother of Two girls I had a Male friend who new I was working very hard to raise these daughters by my self. One Christmas he came to visit and ask me to give him all my Utility bills and I said to him, No. Well he answered by telling me he knew I spent my money on Christmas gifts for my daughters and did not get my bills paid. I gave them to him and I sat there at the table as he made out each check for my bills to be mailed. He is in heaven now and has been for at least 35 yrs. I still remember him and how good he was to me and my daughters. I wrote a poem about him and called it my diamond friend.

I haven't been home yet today from work, but I got a text from my dad that my box arrived and he's hidden it away! I'm going to get mine out this weekend.

I am mailing my Secret Santa gift today. It is going half the distance across America, but not in a straight line. For those of you here in America, please remember to vote today.
