Glad for you. Enjoy your new home if you buy it. I live in LA and I know what hurricanes can do. They are very destructive. Glad to hear you are moving away from the ocean.

Congratulations, Krystyna!!! I love my basement sewing room. Our basement is finished and we have had no dampness issues. We do have a dehumidifier for the warm months.

Glad to hear you will be settled soon. I can't imagine going so long without having "my place". I have a basement studio. There are times when I miss the daylight , but I have LOTS of lighting so it is brighter than daylight. Its nice to be able to leave it all , and not have to look at my creative mess. On the main level there is no clue of the mess below.

I moved my sewing room to the basement last year when I ran out of room. Ours is dry and I've not had any problem with machines or fabric or odor. I love having all the space although I'm still waiting on walls. I put down plastic on the floor and then our old carpet and pad we took out of the living room. It's cozier to have the carpet although not wonderful to roll around on. I keep my sweeper handy down there so I can clean up after each project. I bought two 6 foot banquet tables and put them on bed risers for a big cutting/layout space. Still looking for more ideas.

Thanks, Judith. We might not be able to move in until mid-June. The waiting is driving me nuts, but the end is in sight. My son and daughter in law might not move in right away, so the upstairs sitting room and bedroom are available -- and they have skylights! Tons of built in storage up there, too.

At home now, I like that banquet table idea.
