Default 1st quilt using my mid-arm

I bought a mid-arm last September and practiced a little bit last fall. Now that I'm really retired (I was a long-term substitute teacher last year), I am back to learning how to use my machine. A friend gave me this donation quilt for more practice. I watched the instructional video yesterday morning and quilted yesterday afternoon and this morning. Now I'm looking forward to getting some more quilts ready to go so I can practice different quilting motifs!

If practice makes perfect it looks like you are there. Great looking quilting on your "practice" quilt. Nice of your friend to give you that top to work on.

Looks great. Angela Walters is my favorite quilting teacher. She has many free videos online and several books out. I have made some practice sandwiches about the size of a big placemat, using old or ugly fabric. I try to practice different motifs on those, and when I have confidence, I move to a real quilt. I bought a sit down longarm last Spring. Aren't they wonderful?
