Here is a cool "wheel" quilt.. perhaps we could help you draft one like it. http://quiltindex.kora.matrix.msu.ed...g1-a_21104.jpg

I don't know the name of the pattern but I think it is neat and really seems to fit the couple you are making it for. I do like your idea of using diamonds instead of the flying geese. I think that would look great.

Oh Quiltn Lady, that pattern shows me exactly how I can make this quilt. Thank you so much. I am thrilled! Now, I need to go pick out some fabric today and get started cutting out the pieces and learning about fusibles. In addition, it appears my iron has given up the ghost, soooo, new iron for me too!

I may make a pillow out of the pattern first, so I can get the hang of getting the circle appliqued on without issue. (thats how I usually do something hard...though I gotta admit, I am not a big fan of throw pillows!) I could make a bolster though...

oops, Old swimmer... I love the idea of putting some sort of thanks in Fabric on the back, maybe in a corner. I've going to go fabric shopping today after therapy, if I have the strength!

My first thought also was that this could be applique...even if it isn't, that's how I would do it. I can't begin to imagine how difficult that would be to piece.

Hoping someone is still watching this.

I've been racking my brain trying to make the BIG part of the quilt easier.

The applique of the "wheels" does not bother me, but I am intimidated by the whole bigness of the quilt.

What does you think of doing large Quilt as you go diamonds for the quilt that I could then sew together. (One color only and quilted in a diamond pattern...should be ok for a beginner.)

then a nice BIG border....which I could either quilt diamonds or wheels on or have someone else do it for $$$(I've learned to use borders to make things bigger!!!)

Then I just hand applique the wheels on. I probably should not say anything but I'm pretty good at the hand applique...I just sit there and do it while the TV plays.

My only Debate was that I planned on using one Strip of bicycle print material in the middle of the quilt, but I guess i could do sort of alternating diamonds of it.

This quilt is causing me so much anxiety. I have to ride an exercise bike daily for 30 min as part of my rehab and this is all I can think about.

I am having trouble however, trying to figure out how exactly I would line up diamonds and such...
I bought some on sale material today (1.00 a yard) and I am going to experiment, but, I could use some advice, hints and HELP!!!!!!

And OF COURSE, I am rethinking my color scheme...Any ideas?

I'm still waiting for the puke green baby material to come in so I can "knock those out" and start this...

Oh My Geeezers! I love it.

I would not change anything, though I am struggling with a color template. all of a sudden I like the white and red idea and then think of it getting dirty....

I think I like the first diamonds better....

    that is Gorgeous!!!!

    just struggling on the colors.
