Mat from my daughter, scissors and templates from my Mom, new machine from my husband. The coolest thing is the way they are encouraging my new habit.

my old mat is 18X24 so you can imagine how exciting this is!

Isn't it great when your family supports your hobby? You are one lucky woman! Now get that machine humming!

You are going to LOVE that machine - especially when you get the hang of the start/stop button so you don't have to use a foot pedal!

Well, .... I had told my daughter (age 28 and already the recepient of curtains for her room and her son's room AND a quilt for herself and the one in the avatar for her son) to be SURE that Dad knew I wanted a new machine so ... maybe not so good, just resourceful?

Daughter asked a quilting friend what other things I could use.

Because of what I've read on here about this machine I did not even unwrap the foot pedal. Love the push button and the needle up/down button. I've only straight stitched with it - except for a little practice square with some stitches and the little monogram letters - but ... love it!

I sewed on it last night for a while and even this morning. It's a bit challenging cause I brought the little avatar guy home with me from Christmas, but he's easily entertained so I've been sewing anyway - a bit!
