Help with Spools ??

Go buy a spool holder for cone thread they sell them at Joann Fabrics & on line. If you put big spools on your machine the way it shows in the photo it threws your tension off. You can put the spool behind your machine in a jar or bowl also .

I have used an empty oatmeal container with a small hole cut in the top so the thread can come out and then threadd it regularly. My grandmother used to put her yarn for crocheting into one (cat proof) so figured it would work for the cone. It does work.

I put mine in a small vase on the floor to the right of my sewing table. It works fine and with the gravity there is enough tension to keep it taunt. I like using these cones. For me it is more economical.

I had the same problem, and asked DH if he could "create something to resolve the problem. Well, instead, he went with me to JoAnn's to the notions aisle (reminds him of the hdware store) and here is what he found. They come in a package of two I think. I don't know what they are called, but they work.
