When I moved into this house I wanted a "showy" bathroom. I had seen a tv program where the shower curtain was pretty "showy" as they had made priscillas.(a valance across the top and then 2 panels drawn back with ribbons. I couldn't find fabric that I could afford AND liked. I was going thru some bags of curtains my Granma had given me. (I come from a long line of being picky, picky, picky about curtains. At almost anytime my Mom and I have a sack of curtains that will eventually be hung in someones house) There in the sack were 2 white twin bed bedspreads, they were exactly what I was looking for. My Aunt came to visit and threw a fit that I had cut up the bedspreads but they are exactly right.

That reminds me of The Sound of Music when Julie Andrew's character made clothes for all the children from her bedroom curtains. Hey, if it works, why not?

Beautiful quilt, and the backing really matches perfectly. So we have Carol Burnett and Sound of Music, but didn't it all start with Gone with the Wind and Scarlett's dress made from the curtains? http://www.hrc.utexas.edu/exhibition...urtchoose.html

Your story reminded me of the old Carol Burnett skit "Went with the Wind"-- "I saw it in the window, and I just couldn't resist!"

Just in case you've missed this classic (the scene I referred to started at 13:13): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjUYw2HKB7o

This was EXACTLY what I thought too! (Carol Burnett scene) Nice way to re-purpose the fabric!!!!

Yes--the Carol Burnett is a parody of GWTW.

Beautiful quilt, and like Angelia and the others I immediately thought of Carol Burnett. It does look like a perfect match - good thinking on your part.

In the movie the Sound of Music , Maria made the children play clothes with the old curtains.
