    The layers of this were as follows: Backing, batting, green/blue, purple/blue, peacock spotty piece, flesh, then black. That is right 8 layers thoughout the whole quilt.

    The backing was marked with the design. I sewed on all of the marked lines, flipped it to the front, and started carefully cutting with tiny, sharp scissors, to that layer that I wanted to show in that spot.

    In traditional reverse applique, you would have turned the raw edges under and hand stitched in place.

    See, easy peasy. Everything I do is easy! I just hope it looks hard, but nothing to it!

    Thanks for the explanation :lol: I am sure it is harder than you make it sound , me I would probably cut a stitching line :oops: Or cit thru a color I wanted to keep :shock: LOL

    What an awesome quilt! Now I want to tackle raw edge reverse applique, my list is getting sooooooooo long!!!

    This is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing such a fantastic piece. There are a lot of avatars on here that I would love to see a close up of. They are hard to see in such tiny pictures. Who would have thought there was so much detail in your quilt till we got to see a close up. It looks invovled, but now we can really appreciate it. I am glad someone asked you to post a closer picture. Wow!

    Thanks for the compliments. I am all in favor of buying the most beautiful fabrics you can find and letting THEM do all of the hard work.
