I am hoping to quilt this by the end of the year, it will be my keeper for the year for our bed.

Right now it is 86 x 100 (ish) I am thinking about adding another outer border to bring it up to 100 x 112.

What would you suggest for a border?

6 1/2" of solid Black or solid Cream or a pieced border of some sort?

I am open to ideas- cheryl

The Oct color was a choice of two colors so I used our HS Purple and Yellow.

    Love the geese border!

Could you had a medium size black border, then a skinny border of various colors, then one last medium size black border? This might add a little punch, but not take anything away from the geese.

do you mean like a 2 1/2 black then piano keys or coins style about 4 (ish) then another couple inches black?

or 2 1/2 black , then a 2 1/2 strip that goes from solid to solid then finish with black?

both sound better then just a solid outer border.

i don't think i'd do a pieced border due to the flying geese, wouldn't want to take away from them.

Maybe i should do a black border with solid color letters of some sort- a good saying to sum up the year?

judy laquirdia did a monochromatic challenge this year by drawing a different color each month. some participants did full quilts or table runners etc... I decided to do blocks and have a keepsake quilt at the end of the year.

for mine I combined the block color with the month to come up with interesting to me blocks, it was a way to do something different. all my kids are represented on their birth month block along with anniversaries, holidays etc...

the june block has yo yo terms, walk the dog, sleeper and trip around the world, along with fathers day, a calico cat for a granddaughter and gigham dog for grandsons b-days, sun for 1st day of summer,

traditional Monochromatic projects would be done in the color of choice all shades and a background color, black, white, cream.

How about adding a very narrow border in one of the bright colors, then the black border, then a bright binding?
