    I am in the process of quilting Baltimore Halloween quilt and have used both free motion and feed dog up. Dog up works better for me when I have to be really precise.

    some of my machines I can free motion quilt with the feed dogs up, but not with my Pfaff; the quilt just won't move right at all.
