Thank you, QM, for guiding me to this site. I'm in awe of the scrappy side...... I keep saving those smaller pieces for something like this. But I will probably use fusible fleece for sewing that many pieces together, just to keep them in place (I have arthritis, and add that to my electronically challenged part of me, its a miracle I get anything done) :>)

Fortunately, the scrappy (AKA Crumb) effect is very easy to achieve. I think I did a tut on it. I don't know about you, but after 10+ years of energetic quiting, I have lots of scraps. I really need to use them or toss them.

Nope. Auburn is a lovely place, but we are west of the central valley, due went of Redding, about 60 miles as the crow flies. We are in the foothills of the Trinity Alps, a place we love.

QM, I am so out of it. What does HST mean? And I can figure out your second sentence either. I don't hang out with quilters and I don't know the lingo.

Also, we lived just outside of Yosemite for 10 years (moved to this area 3 years ago). Do you have your quilts on line anywhere so I could see more. I'm using Facebook for my quilts (except I haven't a clue of what I'm doing and one of the "kids" is trying to get around to putting it together for me. sigh.... Sierra

HST means half square triangle. A huge number of traditional blocks have HSTs as subunits.

The first picture Is when I was doing final trimming on an HST block. The second is someone from my class on simple HST quilts. The third is a lap/ baby quilt with large HSTs, from a pair of theme fabrics.
