    Maybe a"rail fence" with a second dominant color for each block..

    If I were to add another color, it would be black. Can't help with a pattern.

    I'd audition the strips with black, chocolatey brown, and dark gray and see which looked best. Then I'd strip piece random segments, subcut into 2 1/2 inchs units, and start playing around on a design wall, treating the fabrics like wooden blocks a kid plays with, and see what happens.
