    Default ground beef one dish

need some recipes for one pan/skillet ground beef. Kind of like homemade hamburger helper. Some make ahead and freeze portions for later. ???

Here is the first casserole I learned to make in Home Ec. class. It was the first casserole ever made in my grandmother's kitchen. I loved it. It's very good and makes a lot. You can add bell pepper, garlic, and use cream corn and any cheese you like.

    Tallarene

    3 Tablespoons butter
    1 medium size onion, minced
    1 lb. ground beef
1-10 1/2 oz. can tomatoe soup
    1 1/2 cups cold water
    1 teaspoon salt
    2 cups uncooked wide noodles
    1 can whole corn
    1 cup grated cheddar cheese
    salt and pepper to taste

Melt butter; add onion and saute over low heat until onion is tender. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Add tomatoe soup, water, salt, noodles, and corn. Mix; cover and cook slowly 10 minutes. Sprinkle with grated cheddar cheese. Cover; steam 25 - 30 minutes.

onebyone -- I like your casserole since I can use gluten free noodles and serve it to DSIL. Sounds yummy.

My DH and I love this: 1 box Spanish rice prepared according to the pkg. 1# browned & drained hamburger and 1 can drained whole kernel corn. It makes alot and it freezes well.
Sometimes I divide it in half and make a Mexican casserole with one half. Just add 1 can drained & rinsed black beans, 1 can Ro-tel ,cheese and bake.

Stuff that into a cooked green pepper, set upright in a pan (you can freeze at this point) put some cheddar cheese on top and bake in the oven. I have forever made my stuffed green peppers with Rice-a-Roni Spanish rice mix for 1,000 years now. Now I am alone and I use small bread pans. Just enough for one. Sounds good on a lousy windy +12* day out today. And I have the mix also. Yay!!!!!! Edie

I make a beef stroganoff that is a favorite of mine but am away from home now and don't know the exact measurements. The ingredients include hamburger, onion, cream of mushroom soup, s&p to taste and sour cream stirred in at the end and noodles. If you google stroganoff I think you will find several recipes. You can always throw in any veggies you want.

My DH loves stuffed peppers. Sometimes I am feeling lazy so stuff the peppers with frozen Italian meatballs and cover with spaghetti sauce.

Way back when, I was a Girl Scout and remember making ground beef and vegetable soup on a camp fire.
