Does anyone know any thing about this machine? All it says on the machine is J.C. Penny Penncrest model # 30000. There were no cams with machine, but I know it takes them. Do you know which kind? I am trying to save this machine and clean it up . It is very dirty and probably hasn't been used in years. If you know any thing about it I could use the help. I have no manual for it. But I need to get one. All I got was the machine. I bought it at the goodwill. I gave $10.00 for it. It was sitting in a corner looking sad so I took it home with me. It works but need oil and a very good cleaning. Was this a good buy?

If you can post a couple clear pics of the cam area and the whole machine it might help figure things out. These machines were made my many different manufacturers and sometimes just the model number isn't enough to ID them.

found the manual for sale but it does not show a picture, so this does not help with identifying who made it.

ok I found this when I got some of the grime and dirt off this is the numbers I found so for
Penncrest 3000 JA5 this machine is cream (I think) and green

hope pictures will work on more cleaning tomorrow. I have found no rust so far on the machine and it is
low shank , front load bobbin.

This company made power tools too as I had my father's old electric drill with the same name....Penncrest on it. It burned up when I went to drill a hole to run telephone wires in my mother's house back in the 90's.

Penncrest is simply JC Penney's "Badge" name, so other items were not made by the same company, only all sold by Penneys. And that is why you can find the same item with a different "badge" name on it, as the companies that made these items usually sold to more places than just Penneys.

Just like Sears used "Kenmore" and Wards used "Signature".

Pics didn't work. The J-A 5 does indicate the manufacturer but my list is in the storage locker in IL. The Japanese machine forum on Yahoo has that info if you're up to fighting your way into it.

It could be a while before you see another original manual for your machine. If it was me, I'd probably buy it. It probably won't help much with figuring out which cams fit though.

Got the machine all cleaned up and oiled today. thank you everyone. I bought the manual on line 10.00 It did help where to oil machine , but not with cams. I went to my friends house and bought some of her extra cams. (She collects stuff). They didn't fit. Black one. not sure what machine they will fit, but if anyone knows and wants them. let me know and they are your.(free). this machine sew wonderful. thank again for your help. If anyone wants the cams I will post pictures, just let me know. I think they are complete set, but not sure. I don't know much about cams yet.
