    Welcome Singerchild,
Your machine can still be used without the faceplate door. That seems to be the weak point of the Singer 500 and 503, the top hinge on my 500 was broken when I bought it. The former owner had it taped on with clear packing tape.

    Miriam,
Emma is beautiful! I love the hat that she's wearing.

The nurse cut two slits through the turned up brim and hat then slid another folded hat through the slits to make that bow. Genius! Baby, Mommy, Daddy, babysitter, Grandma and Grandpa are all glad to be home and out of the heavy snow now.

I'm sure Emma will want her own sewing machine before very long. I noticed that Walter (who is 2) had gotten a nice black sharpie and decorated his Momma's white Viking - Walter doodles on everything. I guess if he can't talk he WILL express himself one way or another.

    Miriam,

Congrats on Emma. Glad to hear all are home and out of the snow. What a crazy winter!
Was in Wichita last week. They be smoking the good stuff down there for antique and vintage machines. High prices on most of them and very few that came with attachments.
