Welcome to QB and the vintage sewing section, KenmoreRulesAll. It sounds like you've come to the right spot.... and we will try to encourage you to make a quilt.... haha. I'd like to suggest that you look at the thread about cleaning up a vintage machine by Muv that you will find near the beginning of the vintage forum list. She has some wonderful ideas about the cleaning and oiling that I found very helpful when I was working on my 1st vintage machine.

It looks like you're doing a fantastic job already but don't hesitate if you have any questions.... there are some really great sewing machine repair people here that can help. At least, they have always come to my aide when I've asked.

Thanks very much, Jean -- I will read the thread you mention and expect to learn a ton, especially the names of the parts on the inside and freeing up a frozen machine. You might even get me to sew.

no, but a bit of consultation with the Oracle of Google would probably turn up some stuff.

I would guess German, and with the Wheeler & Wilson style irons, i would guess it was a reasonably solid player in the import market.

Ok, I love that advert!
The description of how the machine's shuttle whirling round and round is just wonderful!
Oh and the cost..I think I would be able to manage $2 down and $1 a week!
