My daughter was going through an antique mall in Searcy, AR and found this for $175.00. Is this a good price?

misseva,

The serial number for the sewing machine is located under the bed on the front of the machine and those in the know can estimate a date of manufacture which is probably late Teens or Twenties. The $175 seems about right if complete with foot controller, attachments, and the insert that appears to be missing from the bed. Also worth considering is condition of electrical components and whether your able to work on them if you plan on sewing with this gem. I tend to expect the worst with 90-100 year old electrical and figure on rewiring as the best case scenario.

Thanks Jon. I'm not really interested in the machine but just wanted to know if the price was in the ball park.

Just curious? I'd much prefer a treadle or better yet a Hand crank. Good chance the electrical components are toast.

I found my W&G at a local shop and only paid $40.00 for it. It has all of the above components and the original manual. It has extra needles also. I had a friend of mine redo the wiring and he did a complete clean up for me and only charged $25.00!! I named her Abby for obvious reasons. LOL
