    Well, I haven't done it with a sewing machine, but I do it with books ALL the time! I am an avid reader, and my basement is wall to wall, floor to ceiling books - over 5000 ...

    They are filed alphabetically by author, but not by title. Two weeks ago I started to organize them and was quite surprised how many doubles / triples I had LOL ... And I'm only at the F's ... I'm sure I'll have at least 200-300 books to donate by the time I'm done!

    Cari,

    I think if you were to lock the upper balance wheel locking nut and let the lower machine freewheel, like filling a bobbin, then that should sync the two machines, thus creating a Singer 128 sawing machine.

    So you are saying it would be easier to remove vibrating shuttles to get them out of the way of the saw blade, instead of working around a round bobbin case?

    You all are a terrible influence on me and I love it.

    What lovely decals, I know that is why you had to have her, and yes she is perfect for a hand crank.

    Lol. What a hilarious group we old machine collectors are! You can decide if the "old" fits your description or if it just describes the machines.

    Took some mis-delivered mail to my neighbor this morning. She was telling me that she has just been sick about not packing or misplacing her Pfaff. Not sure of the model. Anyway they had purchased the house next door and had moved from South Dakota. He retired from the service. They made 2 moves. I saw them move a sewing machine into the garage and not sure what kind it was. Had it been me I would have put it right into the house. Anyway, I asked her how many she had. She has 3 including the Pfaff but couldn't find it. Did she check her garage back in the corner? That's where I saw them put it. She grabbed my hand, we went out to the garage and there it was in the corner, boxes of stuff all around it. Had been there for 6 months. It was her mother's machine. She took it into the house and just cried like a baby. Her DH didn't know where it was either. He said it was the happiest she's been since the move. She had a space for it in her sewing room which is the larger of the bedrooms. I envy her she has a FW, 401 and her mother's Pfaff. She's a happy camper. I told her she owes her Christmas to the creepy substitute carrier!

    What a great story! You did your good deed for the whole year I'd say.

    My dad loaned me a book on improving your memory about 20 years ago. When I was putting it back on the bookshelf (after reading it) I found another copy. After I stopped laughing (which took a while) I went and asked him if he'd read it yet (unsurprisingly he said no) then pointed out the two books side by side.

    I've done that with fabric more times than I care to remember. Anyone need some purple??? I also have done that with sewing machines. I have about 5 201s - all heads without cabinets.

    Just my 2 cents;
    I stay away from the 128 and 27's. They are long bobbins with no reverse. I find them totally useless for actually sewing on all the time. I do like the nice decals on those machines. I wish the 15-90's or 201's had decals like that.
