A recent thread got me thinking about this, I love cams! I have a couple machines that take them and I have some odd spares that I picked up somewhere and have no idea what they go to.

I would love to see a thread where we all post photos of cams and talk about what machines they go to so when cams without machines or vice-versa show up we can have some idea how it all works together.

I tried to flip one in each set to show the back whether it has a hole or a slot.

-The blue ones I don't have a machine for but have seen them listed on eBay for an Edemco. I'm not sure really.
-The red ones fit the White 6477 I sold but she had no need of the cams so they are homeless. I wonder if they fit other machines?
-The 6 black ones are Elna cams and there are plenty more--I love these! They fit my Supermatic as well as my SU
-The last black cams fit my White 651 which is the same look and user manual as a Pfaff 239. They are double sided cams.

My old Singer touch and Sew had cams. They were kind of fun to play with but the plastic bobbins wore out and I couldn't find replacements so I traded it in. Now with the internet, you can find everything!

maybe you can help me I have the elna supermatic green one and can,t get it to sew forward when I push the panel it goes back ward only instead, any help would be welcome and I don,t have any cams for it eightr and I need a light for it too ,where can I buy them

Here's a picture of the cams for my "vintage" Viking. It is a machine that was my main machine until recently. It is a Viking 6460 purchased new in 1976. I didn't realize it was "vintage" until I saw it last month in a display of vintage machines in a shop!

The cams are a weak link on this machine as the space where they go can crack and render the machine useless. I have been fortunate to have been very careful with the machine and have it serviced regularly and that part of the machine has remained in tact. I am having problems with the foot pedal overheating and getting parts for this machine is hard since they no longer make them. Love the machine but didn't begin to use all the decorative stitches on it. I have all the cams by one is kept in the machine.

I, too, have the same cams as the above picture. My Husqvarna/Viking was also purchased new in 1976 and I am still using it. It's been a great machine but I know that I will have to replace it one day but with what??

I just got a new sewing machine because the foot pedal on my Viking was getting hot and knew the handwriting was on the wall as to how long it would last. A replacement foot pedal if one could be found was in the $100-150 range and I questioned as to whether I wanted to invest that kind of money in a machine that might have other issues along the way. I got a Janome 8900qcp with a large harp area for quilting. Been very happy with my purchase so far but kept my Viking and will use that too as long as I can. My Viking is a great machine and I have a sentimental attachment to it.

Excellent idea for a thread!
As I posted recently on another thread, I'm keeping my eye out for cams for my Kenmore model 84.
When (if?) I successfully find cams for my machine, I'm going to post detailed images of the cams so I can save someone else the trouble of hunting for them.
If everyone did that with cams for their machines, it could turn into a really useful resource.
This thread should be a sticky!

Edit: I should mention that I am a member of two Yahoo groups for vintage Kenmore sewing machines, and they do have some useful information. However, the information is rather patchy, and there is not much useful stuff for my machine.
Yahoo groups are also so badly laid out that they are practically unusable.

This is a wonderful idea. I am trying to find cams for a Coronado Deluxe Zig Zag machine I got in a Singer cabinet. Since there is no cam in the machine I don't know what it would look like. Miriam kindly sent me a package of cams that we hoped would fit, but they don't. I have pics of the cam opening, but can't find it at the moment. When I do I will add it.

I have a Viking 6020 (about 1970) that uses these same cams. I got it for $5 from a local thrift store because it had the cracked internal cam (I had to point it out to them). Fortunately I know an OSMG who could replace the cam and there is a good aftermarket replacement.
