Default Controlling the mess!

Is there any way to keep the shop clean? The biggest problem is I love to use my dremel with a wire wheel for polishing metal parts and those wires come loose and fly all over. I worry they are in my hair or on my clothes when I walk into the house and also that they could get into a machine inside the shop and jam up the works.

I am at peace with the q-tips, cotton balls and string here and there and ok with the paper towels, rags, pee pads and whatnot but not the wires. Grrrr.

put a dab of super glue on the center where the wires join the post.

Christy,

One piece of advice, do not walk around barefoot in an area where you've used the Dremel wire wheels. I learned that the hard way. Those little wires develop a barb on the end and when you dig them out it hurts.

Wear safety glasses while using those too.

I love those little things, but they are dangerous.

Never heard about the super glue in the middle. I'll try that. Can't hurt.

no - I read it on the internet - it must be true so I tried it - it isn't fool proof but it does extend the life of some of the brushes... the cheap Chinese brushes are even worse - cheap and no good and you better be wearing body armor and a face shield helmet... Oh and out doors where you don't ever go barefoot.

I only buy the Dremel brand bits and accessories. That thing cranks out some serious RPMs so I don't scrimp.

Interesting. To start with I confess I bought the cheapos. Yes they are dangerous. Even with glasses on, I have had them try to shoot up my nose and def. come at my face and arms. I feel like I need to go with full on battle gear inside a box!

Do the Dremel ones hold up better?

Dremel holds up better for me too. I think I will try a dab of hot glue from one of my glue guns and see how it holds up. Being a licensed nail technician by trade I know how brittle and flaky cyanoacrylates are so I wouldn't really want to use any super glues.

I also use the Dremel stiff black plastic brush bit for getting in and around the chrome parts that I do not want to remove from the machine. Doesn't hurt the paint at all.

I only use the metal wire brush for the tough jobs. I wear wrap around safety glasses that have 2.0 diopters so I can see what I am doing. They are cheap and wearing only one pair of glasses is so much better for me.

Interesting about the glue - I don't know if hot glue would penetrate enough
I want to see what the brush you use looks like
I like those kind of glasses, too - something close to the cheek - bristles flies everywhere
