Manalto, have you never heard the use of "plug it up" before? I have used it and "plug it in". Different areas of the country and world uses different terminology to describe it.
LilRedRocker, please post a picture of your new-found toy. I have never been lucky enough to find a sewing machine for free. Happy sewing.

Sure, but usually in reference to stopping a leak. Also meaning something jammed with foreign material, which was the source of my little joke ("You don't want to jam it up right after you've just cleaned it!"), which appears to have fallen flat, to say the least.

It's always risky to try to joke on a forum - no one can tell that you are chuckling while you say it. And then it makes it risky to post at all - because people start getting easily offended.

I got the joke, and thought it was a friendly and innocent bit of humor and wit. It was the type that used to make visiting on the internet lots of fun. Unfortunately, we’re getting to be such a politically correct world now that kidding and joking is one of the things that is no longer allowed. That’s why I have almost quit posting.

That's why we say LOL a lot. Then people know we're just kidding. I guess the new thing to do is say Ha, ha.
